Album description
HEAD IN THE CLOUDS presents Peter’s interest in combining folk and world themes with jazz. As he explains, “Under The Hill" suggests a melancholic atmosphere and folk themes. The song is loosely inspired by two folk songs that I learned to play on the tin whistle. They live deeply within me and evoke strong childhood memories. Musically, there is a strong influence of John Coltrane in solo form." Nikolaj Nikitin guests on bass clarinet.
“Francis" hints at French composer Francis Poulenc whose elegant compositions captivate Peter while there is also a strong influence from Wayne Shorter, one of Peter’s idols.
